Nursery Essentials

When choosing furniture (the crib, dresser, changing table, rocking chair, etc.), think ahead. Ask yourself if it’s something you can use for a second child, if the color is neutral, if it’s convertible, if it can be used in a different room later. Some cribs convert to a toddler, and then a full-size bed. The changing table may be a short dresser fitted with a changing pad. When your child outgrows a changing table or you find that you don’t use it, simply remove the changing pad. We chose a neutral light pine bedroom set; one that could be used for a boy or girl. Think flexibility and re-use for the nursery, especially for items that can be used again such as the changing pad, sheets, and blankets. Here is a list of essential items for your nursery:

  • Baby-size pillow
  • Bed rail (if using a regular bed instead of a crib)
  • Blankets
  • Changing table
  • Changing table pad
  • Comforter set
  • Crib bumper pad
  • Crib or bed
  • Diaper stacker
  • Dresser
  • Mattress
  • Rocking chair
  • Sheets
