Domestic Adoption- Legally Risky?

A popular misconception of domestic adoptions is that they are legally risky.  Fueled by overwhelmingly negative media coverage,  and every little old ladies adoption gone wrong story- that they must share,  it’s no wonder prospective adoptive parents often worry about risk.
While there are no mandatory reporting requirements, experts estimate that in reality, less than one percent of domestic adoptions are ever contested after the birthparents relinquishment of parental rights.  This makes adopting domestically a viable, low risk option.
