Developing Fine Motor Skills
During the preschool years there are a number of fine motor skills that your child will master. Increased hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills will allow your child to perform everyday task which will lead to greater independence and self-confidence. The mastery of these skills will set a foundation for exploration and learning, and creative expression:
Clap hands
 Touch fingers
 Throw a ball
 Turn doorknobs
 Feed themselves
 Drink from a cup
 Help dress themselves
 String large beads
 Put large pegs in a pegboard
 Build a tower up to 10 blocks
 Complete puzzles with five or more pieces
 Turn pages in a book
 Use pencils and crayons
 Color and draw
 Copy a circle
 Draw vertical or horizontal lines
 Paste things onto paper
 Use safety scissors to cut shapes
